Dr. Christoph Biehl

Dr. Christoph Biehl works as Stewardship Lead Europe for LGT. Before this he worked in similar roles at Credit Suisse Asset Management and Fisch Asset Management. He also has a wealth of academic experience: He worked as a Lecturer in Responsible Business at the University of Birmingham where he was part of the Lloyds Banking Group Centre for Responsible Business. He holds a PhD from Henley Business School in Accounting, a MLitt in Management from the University of St Andrews and a BA from the University of Bayreuth in Philosophy and Economics. As a former academic he is passionate about researching the present to provide solutions for the next generation. This research forms the basis for his professional work as well as his teaching and as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy he uses innovative teaching methods in order to make academic research accessible and provide the next generation with the best possible learning experience. Before joining the University of Birmingham Chris has taught and researched at a variety of universities, including Henley Business School, Beijing Institute of Technology and the University of St Andrews. Chris' field of research is accountability with a focus on stewardship, which can be seen in his research on the Japanese Principles for Responsible Institutional Investors. In addition to his passion for fostering the next generation through academic teaching and research, Chris is a mentor for the German Konrad Adenauer Foundation, mentoring the foundations’ scholarship holders in Scotland.
